30 Day Shred - My Journey - Day 15

Hi all

Well i had taken a couple of days off to do some different DVDs as shred was getting a bit to intense on my calves/shins and i was feeling the pain :(

I stuck with JM though and doing 6 week abs along with some cardio dvd's ( i have done the reviews a bit further down the page )

Today is day 15 and i started again yesterday, just went straight back into level 2, which was tough but not as bad as i thought it might be.

I was hoping with the strength moves my shoulders would build up a bit more resistance but no such luck as of yet.

Im going to stick with it as much as i can, as i want to finish the full 3 sections. I'm definitely not moving up to level 3 early :)

Update on my measurements:

Waist - 30 inches
Hips - 36 inches
Arm - 11 inches
Thigh  - 20.5 inches

Good luck with your goals...keep it up!!

DVD Review number 2 - Pump It Up

Welcome to my review of   Pump it up by Ministry Of Sound

So this is an old DVD i had it back in 2005 when it first came out, but lent it to a friend, never to be seen again :)

So after a recommendation from my bestie i purchased it again, because its an older DVD it is around £5 delivered.

Here is a picture of what it looks like....

Okay so as you can guess this DVD is a high energy dance DVD, it has a good amount of sections that you can do altogether or seperatly.

If you do decide to do it all it lasts around 60-70 mins

The Sections....

HEAT - this is a warm up, the music here is nice and "jumpy" being from Ministry of Sound the tracks are dance, but this intro gets you pumped and ready for the workouts.

DANCE - this section is as it sounds its a dance section that is quite intense, if you are new to this kind of dvd's you will find yourself gargling your heart at some point.... i was.
You will also learn the Call On Me dance routine in this section, which is good fun :)

PUMP IT UP - this section is the HIGH energy intense workout, this section is tough the first time i did the dvd i had to march for a few seconds (a few times) through this section. Even according to my HRM (heart rate monitor) i was over my heart rate max a few times in the section. So be prepared to work it in this one. It high impact as well so take care of those joints, and dont over do it.

BUMS AND TUMS - this sectiio gives the 6 pack a good workout, its not too long but you can feel the abs burning. I struggled with the push ups because of my weak girly shoulders lol.

CHILL - the cool down section, this is a good cool down section one of the best ive seen, they make sure you are stretching and releasing each of the muscles you have worked so hard on.

Dont feel bad if the girl gets on your nerves slightly as i am totally the same. I had forgotten how annoying she can get. "Thats the way" and "Just as far as comfortable for you" are her favourite sayings and she says them a lot!
Also don't feel bad if you cannot fold yourself in half like they do, they are professional dancers.

One more thing - there are a couple of places in the dvd where they have edited it and done it badly:

In the dance section whilst you are salsa moving, its cuts back to them doing the inital move with no arms, even though you should actually be doing arms at this point.
Also there is a point where you are doing the diagonal move with arms over the head and it cuts to a backing dancer, but doing the completely wrong move.
I get lost at this point so just do what you think is right for a the few seconds until it returns to the lead dancer.

Again as always there are video clips on YouTube, so check it out before buying. However as a fun high energy DVD that will get you into a happy jumpy mood afterwards its well worth the money!!
Plus it has one of my favourite tunes on it :)

Thanks for reading.....now go workout!!

A DVD Review - Weight Loss Cardio Kick

Okay so around a week ago i got a new fitness DVD, (well i got a few lol)

This was highly recommended by a close friend who is also fitness DVD mad  -you know who you are ;)

It was relatively cheap at £5 + p&p from Amazon

Here is a picture of the DVD..

Okay so lets go from the top -

In the main menu you can choose to do the whole DVD (this is around 51 mins) it includes a warm up both workouts and a cool down.

You can also choose to do a single workout.
or
A single workout with a warm up and cool down.

Workout 1 - Define and Tone

Okay so this workout uses 2 sets of weights one light and one heavier. It also includes some cardio intervals to make sure you get the most out of your workout.
Some of the moves are quite tough and you can feel the burn. On me my shoulders are pretty weak in comparison to my legs for instance. So i definitely felt the burn in this workout.

My weights were 1kg for light and 3kg for the heavy, this worked well for me, just try not to go for a massively high weight if you are new to this.

Good workout and not massively long either. Great for beginners and toning. Low impact versions are there too if you are looking for something a little less tough on the old legs.

Workout 2 - Cardio Kick

This one is by far one of my favourites to work out to. Its high energy, it's fun and it's very addictive.
I love this one for two reasons:

1 - the workout is high energy so you are really sweating and can feel your heart beating in that chest. Its fun and i like the combos. It does make you think a little more about whats coming up rather than the burn :)

2 - I feel dangerous as hell doing this, i love the punches and kicks. I take it completely seriously like i am a black belt fighter.... crazy i know but i just can help myself. I can guarantee i don't look as dangerous as i feel, but thats all part of the fun!!

Okay so this is a cardio video so yes it does make you sweat and it does increase your endurance  However i do feel like even 5 mins or so if core would of made this video a whole lot better.
So i do feel like i have to do another workout that concentrates on the old tum tum.

There are a few clips on YouTube of this video so check it out before you buy. However if you are looking for a cardio workout that is fun. This is definitely one for the collection.

Thanks for reading,.... now go workout!!

30 Day Shred - My Journey - Day 9

Hi all,

Well its day 9 today and I remain undecided.

The DVD says that you should do 10 days of each level, but i feel like i am ready to move up to level 2.
What to do...what to do?!?

Each day has been pretty much the same, weight has stabilised and inches have stopped moving (another reason why i think i should move up).

The push-ups still kill, although the anterior raises seem to be getting a little easier.

Fitness routine plan for today?:

Well in  a few moments I'm going to go for Cardio Kick (Davina stylee)
Then this evening after dinner i will do 30 day shred... stay posted for which level i do......

Monday, 14 January 2013

Here comes the snow...do do do do

Well the snow has finally hit, all the more reason to get up and workout to warm yourself up right?!

Day 6 - 30 Day Shred: Today was tough i did Davina and Yoga this morning so my legs were dying to give up on me, but i pushed through and i made it woohoo :)
My stamina seems to definatley be improving and i have lost another inch off the old flab.

Tried to make butternut squash soup last night - added a little dry chilli flakes to give it some umph and it ended up too spicy to eat *insert sad face* managed to eat half of it along with a pint and a half of water. Will try again once i get some more and no chilli this time lol...

Update on measurements:

Tummy - 32 inches
Hips - 36 inches
Thigh - 21 inches
Arm - 11 inches

30 Day Shred - My Journey - Day 5

Hiya

Well we are hitting the days where the workouts should be getting easier, and i should be feeling some more stamina.

Day 4 - this was a good day i have started using my slimmer belt (see pic below) to help shift the stubborn inches around my tummy.

Day 5 - Well i felt good today, had a treat of a couple of glasses of red wine last night so felt the need to burn some more today!!
Did 30 mins of Davina  - Cardio Box in the afternoon
THEN
30 Day Shred at night - so far the cardio part is getting easier, although push ups and anterior raises with lunges are still really tough!! hopefully my arm strength with begin to improve

Like i say ive started using my Slimmer belt which looks like this....

And what happens is this (that dark mark aint a shadow lol) ewwww much!!

As promised here are some measurements as stands today:

Waist - 33.5 inches
Hips - 37 inches

30 Day Shred - My Journey

Hiiiii did you miss me?

I know, its been far too long since i posted on here, but im back and now that the diet is over and the toning has begun.

As most of us will know i have (like many others) put on a couple of extra pounds over the holiday season. I know naughty naughty, but if you cant let go at xmas when can you eh?

So to get me back into shape and to tone me further than ive been before, i've decided to do "30 Day Shred" an intense workout dvd by Jillian Michaels

So to catch up this is day 3:

Day 1 - was tough as starting any kind of exercise regime always is. Felt a bit shaky after but overall feeling good.

Day 2 - legs were achey and tight, but pushed through and felt good after.

Day 3 - Felt good today even did a little bit of Davina in the morning. Getting a little bit easier, although push-ups are still tough after braking my hand, its a little weaker than i'd like.
Love - how disgustingly sweaty i get, i can feel the extra lbs melting away.
Hate - bicycle crunches, omg they kill.

I will be adding some measurements when i check in weekly, just to show how my body is changing and as always will have some before and after pictures for you too.

Good luck with anyone starting or already doing something. Stick with it and you will soon see your "Finish Line"
